Lili’s Garden honored at the Bauhärepräis 2016

The list of winners of the Bauhärepräis 2016 organized by the OAI (Order of Architects and Consulting Engineers) was unveiled this Monday at Cercle Cité in the presence of 600 people. This fifth edition, which rewards the fruit of the work between a client and an architect, saw no fewer than 344 entries.

Of the 317 projects selected, the Lili’s garden residence received an award  in the Collective Housing category (more than 3 units). The renovation of this former farmstead in Dommeldange has already been highlighted on loft.lu.

Architect Pia Mai and client Mifa SCI wanted to partially preserve the identity of this 18th-century building by changing its original agricultural purpose to transform it into a small, functional residential building centered around the inspiring garden.

As proof of this desire for authenticity, the designers did not hesitate to mix old techniques with raw and contemporary materials ( lime-rendered walls, concrete blocks, raw wood,...).

The Zen and Japanese garden offers the dose of tranquility and poetry needed for city life.
